VIP Partner, a business consulting, brokerage and wealth management firm, converted 70% of its SQLs into sales opportunities and generated one high-potential opportunity per month. These results come from a programme run by Growth Room between August 2025 and July 2026, combining outbound prospecting, MQL, SQL and customer generation, and the structuring of the commercial lead-handling process.

About VIP Partner

VIP Partner works in business consulting, brokerage and wealth management. Its business is B2B: it addresses company owners and decision makers, on subjects that bear directly on their assets and their financial choices.

This kind of service is rarely sold on a first contact. It requires a high level of trust, which explains why referral has historically held a central place in the firm's pipeline. The trade-off is well known: a deal flow that depends on the network's availability and that is hard to steer.

The starting point

VIP Partner was too dependent on word of mouth. Recommendation brought in business, but it set its own pace. Acquisition rested on a single channel, controlled neither in volume nor in timing. The first need was therefore to diversify acquisition channels, so growth would no longer rest on referral alone.

The second need was to test a new strategy: addressing prescribers rather than end clients, in order to reach those clients through them. This approach changes the nature of prospecting, since the contact being targeted is not the one who buys the service. It had to be tested as such, on its own targeting and its own messaging.

Outbound: prospecting prescribers to reach their clients

An indirect target

We built the outbound campaigns around the prescriber target. The pitch is therefore not about the end need, but about the interest a prescriber has in pointing their own clients towards this type of advisory support.

That logic has a direct consequence on volume: the pool of relevant prescribers is narrower than the pool of end clients. Prospecting is decided by targeting accuracy and by the quality of each approach, not by the number of messages sent.

Qualification into MQLs, SQLs and customers

Generated contacts are qualified in stages: MQL, then SQL, then customer. Each transition answers explicit criteria, which avoids passing on to sales contacts who are merely interested in the topic. Defining those criteria was part of the work, and they apply to every contact the channel produces.

That filter is what explains the downstream conversion rate: over the period, 70% of the SQLs handed over became sales opportunities. A contact only reaches a meeting once the need and the contact's role have been verified.

Lead handling: structuring the sales process

Generating leads is one thing; handling them consistently is another. We structured the commercial lead-handling process end to end. The handling stages, the qualification criteria and the rules for moving from one stage to the next were defined, then applied in the same way to every inbound contact, whatever its origin.

On a low-volume flow, that structuring matters as much as generation itself. A lead handled late, or qualified against shifting criteria, is a lead the channel will not mechanically replace with ten others. Tracking the stages also shows where a deal stalls, and therefore what to correct.

Results

  • 70% SQL-to-opportunity conversion rate over the engagement, from August 2025 to July 2026.
  • One high-potential opportunity generated per month over that same period.

The programme covered a full year, from August 2025 to July 2026, on a market where each account carries weight. It shows that an outbound channel can complement referral in wealth advisory work, provided the right contacts are targeted and qualification happens before anything reaches the sales team.
